Academics

Helping our students develop a passion for learning

Academics

The Dominican Convent is proud to offer its students a curriculum that serves to bring out their maximum potential. The school offers a diversity of knowledge that challenges students academically so as to nurture them to become the best they can be. The Dominican Convent is made up of a team of exceptional teachers, who devote their time and energy in imparting knowledge to the students, so that they are successful in their final examinations, in their university studies and their future global careers. Attention is given to each student as an individual, and where need arises, holiday lessons are conducted at no extra charge.

In providing world class education, Checkpoint exams in English, Mathematics and Science are offered to the Form 2s.  The Checkpoint results are used for placement into form three Arts, Business or Science classes. The school offers both IGCSE and ZIMSEC at Ordinary level. At AS and Advanced Level, all students write Cambridge examinations.

library

Outside the classroom, the school has invested in a library that complements the school’s curriculum. The library serves to assist in providing quality education for every student, and to encourage lifelong literacy and learning through reading. This goal is accomplished by:

  • The provision of an environment in which students and staff learn to access, evaluate, and apply information using a variety of print and electronic formats.
  • The stimulation of learning through the use of technology, research, inquiry and analysis.

Careers Guidance

Additionally, the school has a Careers Guidance Department, which places much value on the importance of enabling its students to make informed personal, educational and career decisions.  The department has in place a number of resources aimed at helping students make informed choices about subject combinations, university or professional training as well as the profession most suited for them. Moreover, students are actively encouraged to attend the many careers events and university open days which are a regular feature of any academic year

Our Mission

The Dominican Convent, following a tradition that dates back to St Dominic, who desired the salvation of all people, is committed to the education and development of the whole person, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, morally and socially.

Our Vision
