What's happening at convent

St John’s College Annual Chess and Bridge Tournament

Sunday the 19th of May, 2019, was a day full of activity, as St John’s College hosted its annual Chess and Bridge tournament. Convent was a part of this tournament and the Convent ladies excelled in their games.

Chess:

The Junior team came first out of the seven teams in the girls’ category and the team was made up of Rumbidzai Mawire, Megan Zhong, Chelsea Chitando and Tanyaradzwa. The Senior Team also came first out of the seven teams in the girls’ category. The team comprised of Tadiwa Bhiza, Panashe Shiri, Tryphine Mpofu and Nyasha Gondo.

Both teams received prize money. Board prize winners also received a certificate and a medal. In the Junior Section, Rumbidzai Mawire won Best Board 1 and Chelsea Chitando won Best Board 3. In the Senior Section, Nyasha Gondo won Best Board R.

Bridge:

The Bridge tournament was made up of the A and B teams and 9 schools participated. The Convent A team comprised of Nabat Osman, Langalihle Nyathi, Anne Ruzario and Gamuchirai Kathona. The ladies played well and came out 4th out of 9 schools.

The B team played extraordinarily well, as they came out 2nd out of the 9 schools. Mudiwa Mukonoweshuro, Tanaya Masikati, Runako Manzira and Makanaka Munodawafa made the B Team and they received prizes.
