What's happening at convent

Prefect's Camp

The Prefects body went for a leadership camp at Hide Away in Norton, from the 8th to the 10th of February 2019. This is always a major highlight for this group of students, as they take part in a wide range of educational, inspiring and fun-filled activities.  The major purpose of the Prefects’ Camp is to groom the students to be the best leaders they can be to aid in the smooth running of the school, as well as to encourage them to be role models for the rest of the student body.

At the camp, the mornings always started with burn out exercises. The school rules were then reinforced and the students were taught how to implement them in the correct manner. A SWOT Analysis of the prefects body was done, and the group was educated on the qualities of a good leader, how to respond or react to certain problems that arise in the school and the types of punishments they are allowed to give to the students.

They then participated in team building activities which included Toxic Waste, T-Line, Swift Delivery, Team Talks and the famous Bucket with Holes. The prefects also did team challenging activities such as the Human Mix, Star Race, Sack and Egg Race and the Tower of Nails. These activities enhanced their self-esteem, problem solving and communication skills.  In closing the fun-filled day of activities, the prefects had a Karaoke evening, where they discovered their singing and non-singing talents.

Most importantly, by the time they left Hide Away, the group had bonded strongly and they had all impacted each other’s lives in great ways.
