Convent Chess Team to represent Zim

The Crystal Candy National League Chess Finals were held over the weekend from 7-10 June 2024 at Northlea High School in Bulawayo. A total of 17 Schools who were Provincial Champions from all the Provinces in Zimbabwe, and the host Northlea High School participated in the finals.
 
Dominican Convent Harare scooped gold by coming first out of the 17 Schools and thereby becoming the 2024 National High Schools Chess Champions and earned bragging rights to represent Zimbabwe at the World Schools Chess Championships.
 
The Convent ladies were ruthless and undefeated in the whole tournament. The participating schools included last year's Champions, Cheziya High School. Special mention goes to Ropfadzo Gwatidzo who received an individual prize for having a 7/7 perfect score on board 2. The team comprised of Maita Mangwende, Ropfadzo Gwatidzo, Ropfadzo Chikwanda, Mutsawashe Chikurunhe and Neema Mugura. Congratulations and well done to the ladies.
