Technovation Club Shines at the Econet E-Novate Expo Hackathon
From 4 December, 6 December, and 8–10 December 2025, four Technovation Club teams participated in the inaugural Econet E-Novate Expo Hackathon, where they worked intensively on innovative software projects. The hackathon challenged participants to integrate two popular Econet digital products: EcoCash, a mobile money application, and Akello, an educational application.
Econet provided all the necessary software development tools, including EcoCash and Akello simulators, GitHub, DevPost, Discord accounts, APIs, and development pipelines. Participants competed in three categories: High Schools, Universities, and Information Technology Start-ups. The High School category was highly competitive, featuring 15 teams from leading schools across the country. In addition to the hackathon, the expo hosted high-profile talks and presentations on artificial intelligence, the future of technology, and strategies for starting, sustaining, managing, and growing successful businesses.
Only the top four teams in each category were announced.
In the High School category, the Dominican Convent team, Code Break Syndicate, comprising:
Crystal Pasipamire
Maxine Takaedza
Nicole Makovere
placed 4th out of 15 teams. While prizes were awarded only to the top three teams, this achievement is a commendable accomplishment.
Congratulations to Code Break Syndicate and the other Technovation Club teams for their dedication, innovation, and for representing the school with excellence. We look forward to an even stronger showing at the next edition of the Econet E-Novate Expo Hackathon.
